Michael Staple’s first release for Curaga Records brings Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest to vinyl. He works through LoFi Trap and chill hop, with a LoFi hip hop undercurrent. Staple stays close to David Wise’s original compositions, so the record lands with fans of the 1995 SNES soundtrack.

The single LP holds 10 arrangements of that soundtrack. “Klomp’s Romp” plays the source material for laughs, and “Stickerbush Symphony” drifts into ethereal territory. “Mining Melancholy”, “Bayou Boogie” and “In a Snowbound Land” also appear among the 10 tracks.
